In 2023, we joined forces with Corkbrick to explore new possibilities in modular design, combining cork blocks, recognized for their lightness, sustainability and versatility, with the use of Portuguese natural stone. The collaboration arose from a shared desire to rethink building materials and furniture, bringing nature, innovation and durability together.
We developed a special version of the Corkbrick modules in a selection of Estremoz marble, a noble stone from the Alentejo known for its elegance and soft veins. The challenge was to reinterpret the modular interlocking system, originally made of cork, for the rigidity and weight of marble, without compromising the constructive logic or the tactile character of the material.
The result is an unprecedented fusion of tradition and experimentation: a system that allows stone structures to be assembled intuitively and without permanent fixings. This special edition highlights the beauty of Portuguese stone while reinforcing the commitment to natural, modular and circular materials, a shared signature between Olivah and Corkbrick.
