Inspired by the islands of São Miguel and Pico, designer Eneida Lombe Tavares' collection transforms the Azorean landscape into a tangible, sensitive matter. The geological and cultural strength of the archipelago is expressed through objects that celebrate the encounter between earth and gesture reflecting the natural interplay between stone and plant: wicker embraces basalt, evoking the lava tubes, the stone walls that protect the vineyards, and the baskets used in the grape harvest.
The basalt, supplied by ABF Stones, represents the volcanic soil of the islands: solid, ancestral, and black. The wicker, which grows from the same earth and weaves through the stones as an extension of nature, was harvested and steamed in the Furnas hot springs in São Miguel, then braided with precision and sensitivity by artisan Alcídio Alexandre.
Under the curation and production of Olivah, the collection includes a lamp, a chair, a bench, a centerpiece, and a basket, pieces where the contrast between weight and lightness, material and gesture, gives shape to the living spirit of the Azorean territory.
A creation promoted by ASSIMAGRA, with funding from the PRR under the Sustainable Stone by Portugal Green Agenda.
