It was with great joy and pride that we took part in the Osaka 2025 World Expo, as part of the Portuguese Pavilion representing the Broot Dialogues project.
This year, under the theme "Building sustainable and inclusive futures", the event brought together countries from all continents to reflect, debate and propose solutions to the great challenges of our time. Being there to represent Portuguese design, share our vision to the world and contribute to a global dialogue about the future was the realization of a dream.

The affinity between the Broot project and the central theme of the Expo is profound. We believe the future is built upon roots in the past, by valuing local knowledge, materials, and memory. Since its inception, the Broot project has aimed to create a network of wisdoms, where design serves as a tool for empowerment, regeneration and connection between communities.
Our presence in Osaka gave form to this vision, with each selected piece highlighting how different Portuguese communities shape their knowledge through the land and memory. Natural stone stands at the center of this dialogue, accompanied by cork, wood, wicker, burel, and ceramics - materials that speak of territory, tradition and hands.

The Portugal Pavilion, inspired by the great sea expeditions of our history, paid tribute to the ocean as a bridge between cultures. Both architecturally and symbolically, the space celebrated Portugal's role in building connections between peoples, especially with Japan, with whom we share a long-standing history of cultural exchange.
It is in this spirit that Broot - Dialogues positions itself as a project that transcends times and place, linking ancestral practices with new ways of thinking and making. In Osaka, we shared with the world a piece of the Portuguese soul, made of matter, memory and future.

Our presence at the Osaka World Expo was marked by intense days of dialogue and exchange with thousands of visitors. We felt the enthusiasm of those who approached with curiosity and the attentive listening of those who saw themselves reflected in the stories each pieces told.
It was an opportunity for significant international visibility and a reaffirmation of the strength of Portuguese natural stone as a material for contemporary creation.
We would like to thank ASSIMAGRA for inviting Olivah to curate and produce the pieces for the Broot project, as well as for its fundamental role in the international promotion of Portuguese natural stone. We remain inspired to continue this journey that unites matter and thought, tradition and innovation.
